Oh gosh oh gosh, okay. Several things. Firstly:
Hours before I finished working on this, =aeolus06 uploaded a very similar picture (which is extremely lovely and you should go look at it), and so I feel a little bit like a copycat, but I promise this is not so - it is just the siren call of ponies, that's all. In fact, everybody should probably be drawing a similar picture right now, so what exactly is the holdup, you guys?
Secondly, I really have practiced drawing pony ponies instead of people ponies, so hopefully I'll be brave enough to post some of those too, eventually.
Now, about this picture, I should probably apologize. For some reason, my brain thinks 80s/90s fashion is the best thing in the world, as long as it's not being worn by me or by any real person. I was going to dress them in cute contemporary clothes, but I don't know anything about contemporary fashion anyway, so I might as well give them dorky out-of-date outfits as not, right? If you look closely, you will see that Twilight is wearing a snap-band, as well as one of those really cool bright watches I wish you could still buy.
Regarding Rainbow Dash, I haven't done any research at all, so it's entirely possible that I was the only kid who thought knotting your t-shirt at your waist was the height of coolitude, but I'm fairly sure the tie-die was actually a thing in those carefree days of the last millennium.
Pinkie Pie ...P-Pinkie Pie chose her own ensemble.
Rarity makes her own fashion and always has, and Fluttershy would look just as sweet and pretty in a potato sack. I suspect Applejack would also look about the same no matter what the decade. I wish you could see her freckles better.
And that's it. Download if you wish, for increased bigness.
Once there was a little girl called Clarissa, she was ten-years-old and she lived in a mental hospital, because she killed her mom and her dad. She got so bad she went to kill all the staff in the hospital so the More-government decided that best idea was to get rid of her so they set up a special room to kill her, as humane as possible but it went wrong the machine they were using went wrong. And she sat there in agony for hours until she died.
Now every week on the day of her death she returns to the person that reads this letter, on a monday night at 12:00a.m. She creeps into your room and kills you slowly, by cutting you and watching you bleed to death.
Now send this to ten other pictures on this one site, and she will haunt someone else who doesn't. This isn't fake. apparently, if u copy and paste this to ten comments in the next ten minutes u will have the best day of ur life tomorrow. u will either get kissed or asked out, if u break this chain u will see a little dead girl in your room tonight. in 53 mins someone will say i love you or im sorry
Very beautiful! Your interpretation of the humanized "Mane 6" is really something to behold! Worthy of a good, solid critique! Each outfit has a brilliant retro feeling like something girls could put together at American Apparel; they match the girls' personalities so well.
Rarity is definitely playing up the 90s version of rockabilly style with her own sophisticated twist of course! Here I'm reminded of my head canon idea that she could be a special, rare blend of racial backgrounds; the 1 that stays with me the most is that she could be 1/2 French-Canadian & 1/2 Chinese. Makes sense to me given the culinary & artistic traits present in both cultures.
Fluttershy is demure & pretty as ever! The simple dress & sash with big boots & pastel tights are things that she really could wear. Your interpretation of her reenforces my idea that she could be 1/2 white & 1/2 Indian: a beautiful combination.
Twilight Sparkle is a true 90s girl in her outfit; reminds me of girls I went to school with. Yes, her snap-bracelet & bold, bright watch are the icing on the cake! To me, she looks Filipina, which would be really cool! Well, I'd like to think so.
Rainbow Dash always felt like she was Latina to me; I can definitely see it here! You don't disappoint with the tie-dye shirt, black yoga pants & big Air Jordan-style shoes. Nice job keeping her athletic personality as well.
Pinkie Pie is totally 80s! I always pictured her as Scots/Irish with that crazy hair of hers. That's the kind of ultra-bright, neon ensemble that suits her perfectly! The pedal pushers & ballet slippers allow her to run & jump to her hearts content; the best touches are the arm gauntlets & loose belts. Like I said: Totally 80s!
Applejack is the same jolly country girl I would expect to see around the Oklahoma/Texas panhandles. The boots, faded jeans & work gloves suit her perfectly, glad you remembered her trademark hat. The sleeveless plaid shirt with green cami are good for a hot day: she's definitely got the arms I would expect to see on her: muscular & lean.
Excellent work, my dear! An instant favorite for me! I am impressed.
Lol compliment sandwhich XD
I can't get over the cuteness that is Fluttershy <3
All the ponies look marvelous.
I wore tie-dyed shirts when I was in the first grade, and I believe I wore one or two in the fifth grade, as well...
