Artist's Comments

My last sketchdump of these two got some really nice comments, so I decided to share some more doodles of my princess and knight characters.

Again, these sketches are very rough, so bear that in mind if you critique them. Otherwise, if you're just looking casually, I hope you enjoy them! Personally, I love to see other people's rough work - you get to see how they work and how the drawings are constructed.

You can make up your own stories for these, but there are two of them I want to explain a bit - the first is the lowest one on the left page. The text is pretty hard to read, so here's what it says:

"They're exactly the same."
"They are not..."

The other one I'll point out is the one on the top right. I feel the need to explain that the knight would never usually be quite so forward - he's a bit shy anyway, and probably is overly aware of their class difference. But this is one of those situations where you have to hug someone. What do you think could have happened?

They do have names now, by the way, but I don't want to tell what they are just yet. It feels like some big secret, which makes me stupidly happy.

*feels like a big stupid idiot for commenting ont he first once asking for more mere minutes before you posted this*
(*but also feels very special!*)
Oh they are darling~
Is that a bandanna on head?
Oh! These are just precious and I love them! <3 <3 <3

Oh, no, don't feel stupid - You just have extremely good timing!

It's not a bandanna, it's a weird little tri-cornered cap that I devised. It's inspired by some of the H.J. Ford illustrations in Andrew Lang's Fairy Books. The man drew some glorious headwear.

These to are still as interesting as ever! And your rough sketches are just so clean *at least to me*
Mm yes I get those moments where I just need a hug...no words are needed in that moment.

oooh keeping there names a secret? Aw poo! I really want to know more about these two!
I really like the one where they are sitting/squatting. Something about that one catches my eye I guess.

I've never met someone who can't imagine a dragon... Even though, apparently, dragon's don't exist.

Hooray good timing!

Hhhmmm~ I shall go look up his drawings.
And its a cute little tricorn cap! Will we see more of them? I'm growing quite fond of these two. :)

(I discovered your gallery last night and poured throgh all the pieces, staying up much later than I had planned by your beautiful art.)

Ughhn, I just love these characters. ;_;
Probably because I'm a big sucker for romances such as this, but hey, who cares? XD

I love the height difference between the two. There could be so many possibilities with just the difference alone. And I imagine it's fun drawing their height difference?

I also really love how I can somewhat picture their personalities within each sketch. In my mind, they look as though they might have completely different characteristics; the knight, as you said, seems very shy, and I'd imagine he'd be a bit serious and quiet at times, where as the princess looks tooth achingly sweet and exuberant, and judging by the apple sketch (at least I'm assuming they're apples, anyway XD), humorous and observant.

I just love your art, so much.
I wish I could be as great an artist as you.

You're too nice, and I don't deserve it.

It is a lot of fun drawing the height difference, although it's murder keeping it anything like consistent.

I think the princess is very much like you've described. The knight does tend to be a bit reserved, although I think his real personality is a lot more outspoken and relaxed. It shows through from time to time, I reckon, but he's got a lot of filters in place.

I like that one too. I have trouble, sometimes, getting the facial expressions I want, but these two worked on the first go.

These do look deceptively clean, really - if you could see the real sketches, you'd find that they're absolutely tortured with eraser-marks.
