Anybody remember these chicks? Sky Dancers were a moderately popular toy back in the 90s. They were little dolls that you could set in a pull-string launcher that would spin them around and they'd fly up and glide around - or hit you in the face. It seems like they got recalled at one point, but they showed up again a few years later with uglier faces and a less-pastel colour scheme, so I dunno.

Anyway, Galoob (I think) pretty much wanted to make them into one of those uber toy lines that had an associated television show and picture books and scads of other tie-ins. I don't think they ever entirely succeeded, but it wasn't for lack of effort on my part. I loved the things. I used to watch the cartoon and make up my own stories - I even had my own little set of rules for how their anatomy and the world worked (their wings were not growing out of their backs/shoulders - they were connected to their arms down to the elbow).

The whole thing didn't last long, but it was terrific fun. Incidentally, this particular Sky Dancer is called Sea Crystal, in case you were dying to know.
